Big Joe and The Big in Texas Band started in 2021, when songwriter Joe Goynes, decided he wanted a band that could play the traditional honky tonk dance sound he was after.  Growing up going to dance halls with his parents in South Texas, Joe developed a love of traditional country music, especially the country music of Texas. Western Swing, 4-4 shuffles, waltzes, jitterbugs, and polkas were influential to Joe’s taste in music.  The band also mixes in Southern Rock, Classic Rock and Blues.  The Big in Texas band will play a mix of original songs and classic covers from all these genres with the emphasis on country music.

     The band also consists of songwriter Markus Daniels, who plays keyboard and rhythm guitar, Jay Pink on drums, Greg McClendon on fiddle, Tom Cranston on bass guitar and multi instrumentalist and songwriter Randy Fields on lead guitar, mandoline, banjo, and dobro.  Joe, who is lead singer and songwriter, plays rhythm guitar and lives in Kyle, Texas. The band is based in the south Austin area.
